We co-create an intentional, safe(r) and brave(r) space together, by following these agreements.
Dance
On this dance floor we welcome all of you. Follow your intuitive impulses to move, sense, feel and emote. Dance, shake, roll, jump, lay, be still, stretch, cry - or anything you desire.
We show up as we are, and move how we feel. We let this change from moment to moment.
No way of moving is better than another. Taking a nap is just as welcome as sweaty-heart-pumping dance. Even in stillness, your breath, blood and spirit are dancing.
On the dance floor, we communicate using movement rather than words. There will be invitations to conversation by the facilitator from time to time - but otherwise we ask that conversations be taken outside.
Consent
We are each responsible for our own well-being. You are welcome to reach out to the facilitator or any collective member for support at any time.
We believe consensual touch is important. We practice active consent to respect each other's bodies and boundaries.
We celebrate one another for communicating our own needs and boundaries. We practice responsibility for our actions and take accountability if we've caused harm.
Community
Folx of all races, shapes, sizes, genders, sexualities, abilities, disabilities, language and religions are welcome in our space.
As a community, we honour each-other's wholeness and encourage one another to go at our own pace. We are mindful of our bodily abilities, capacities and injuries.
We start and end our movement practice together with the understanding that life happens.
Space
We are so grateful to have the opportunity to dance in this studio - so we take good care of it.
We take off our shoes upon entering the building and carry them downstairs to the shelves.
We dance barefoot, in grippy socks or soft dance shoes.
We are a scent-sensitive space. Please keep synthetic perfumes off the dance floor.
We practice in an alcohol-free environment.
If you need to leave a practice early, we encourage you to check-in with either the facilitator or a member of the collective.
We turn our phones on silent and rejoice in this present moment. We don’t take photos, videos or use Shazam. *Ask the facilitator for that song you loved after the dance is done. (with inspiration from "Movement Matters" Port Townsend)
